I'm from SANRAL Technical Innovation. We are expanding on our road network so we have a few renewable energy sites and therefor we need the best design so myself and two of my colleagues attended the course. And it was really fun! We had workshops and hands-on experiments with the tools. Thank you very much! It was a really well presented course and I really enjoyed it!

I did the Sunrise Intermediate course in 2014. We were a plumbing company and wanted to become a solar company. After 6 months we set up our own operation, paid school fees in the early years, went to China and ended up now using Victron. I am now the biggest seller for Victron equipment in Africa and the second biggest in the world. When I started, the course gave me an understanding in how to approach solar. A tip I give to all the people I get requests from is to take advantage of opportunities at the time!

I highly recommend whoever is interested in solar energy, maybe as a consultant or as a technician or just a project manager. So for me the academy has done a great job, in fact it’s align to my future going forward in terms of business opportunities. Thank you very much!

What course is right for me? | A guide for beginners & advanced

Which course can I choose?

Right now, in Ghana, we are offering one of our best entry level courses: The SuperSolarSchool. This is a five-day course in which you get all the basics you need to know about PV solar, while also equipping you for practical application and installation. If you are starting out in the PV solar industry or just need a refresher then this course is for you.

After you have completed the entry level course you may also be interested in our two advanced level courses. These courses are focuses on specific topics and allow for a more in-depth learning experience. The PV*SOL Design school is a course that teaches you how to use the PV*SOL planning software, this is a one-day course. The second course is called Solar Power Designer for Commercial Systems. This three-day course is focused on larger PV systems.

Is the SuperSolarSchool for anyone?

The answer is YES! If you have an interest in the PV solar industry and a desire to learn, this course is definitely for you. There is no prerequisite to have a technical or engineering background. While PV solar is a technology and the course itself is technical this does not restrict non-technical backgrounded people from joining. We pride ourselves on designing courses that are accessible and exciting to engage in.

Whether you want to become a technical expert or just understand the overall picture this course will provide you avenues for both. The SuperSolarSchool will allow you to equip yourself to become a PV expert able to perform installations or it can allow you to become a project manager, building owner or financial provider with PV solar experience and understanding. To do this we allow the courses participant the choice between a summary of the complicated topics or to go into more technical detail.

The course does require technical application and interaction with calculations and hands-on exercises. But these lessons are created to be accessible to any level of understanding of PV solar energy and provide the option to go into more detail. There is a lot to learn in five days and you will definitely leave this course with a brain full of PV solar knowledge.

Get started with the SuperSolarSchool

With Ghana’s growing solar industry and the countries need to move to renewable energy sources for power, now is the best time to become educated on the solar industry and installation of PV solar power. The five-day course is broken up into sections to help cover all the required content.

The first two days are dedicated to understating topics like: how solar technology works, differentiating system types and identifying and learning about different components. The third day is used a for a practical exercise in which you build your own solar system. In the last two days the process is stepped up a notch as you begin learning more complex calculations and exercises on topics like: planning and sizing solar systems, project management and understanding the law around PV solar power.

While this might sound like a though course, if you apply yourself and come ready to learn we promise that you won’t regret it.

Are their courses for people with prior PV knowledge?

Of course, there are! While our more advanced courses are great for understanding more complex PV systems and further educating you on the use of PV*SOL planning software, we do recommend our SuperSolarSchool as well. You may be confused as to why we would recommend an entry level course to professionals, well it is because we have designed the course to be multi-layered.

The SuperSolarSchool course is devised to allow a more advanced student to engage with each exercise and calculation in a more in-depth manner. While the instructor maybe there to give step-by-step instructions to the entry level students, for the advanced they are more of a guide, pointing you in the right direction. We also provide the opportunity for the advanced students to contribute to the learning process through discussions, which is the best way to prove to yourself you understand any topic.

We are confident that you will be able to learn from the SuperSolarSchool even if you have prior experience with solar installations. Even after 10 years and 2000 participants, none have left this course without learning something new. If, however, you have reached the limit of the SuperSolarSchool, we do recommend our professional courses like the Solar Power Designer for Commercial Systems.

Curious about which choice is best for you? Give us a call and we can help assess your prior knowledge and assist in selecting the best course for you.
