Where we are – Our Branches
Since 2011, GREEN Solar Academy together with its German partner, the German Solar Energy Society DGS, has been active on the whole continent of Africa as well as in Germany. The map on the right shows the countries where we realised projects or trainings and where GREEN Solar Academy branches exist.
In all countries and regions we work together with local partners. We use their premises and workshops to offer our trainings. If you wish to visit the premises, please contact the venue contact persons beforehand to arrange a time.

Southern Africa
The GREEN Solar Academy has its roots in South Africa. We are currently operating two academies there, one in Johannesburg with our partner Resolution Circle and another one in Cape Town together with Life Choices. From 2016 we started expanding to the neighboring countries, at that time still under the name of maxx solar academy. We opened branches in Namibia, Lesotho and Zimbabwe and then added Angola and Mozambique as Portuguese speaking academies.
Our plan is to also open academies in Botswana and Zambia soon. If you would like to become an academy partner and are interested in offering high quality solar education, please contact us!
West Africa
In West Africa we are running the GREEN Solar Academy together with the KYA Energy Group. KYA was founded by Dr. Yao Azoumah and is located in Lomé, Togo. The first training of trainers in Lomé took place in July 2019 and on a joint trip to Ghana we met the team of the Don Bosco Technical Institute who will support us with trainings in Ghana.
In the near future we are planning to offer trainings not only in Togo and Ghana but also Benin, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso.
Our joint story in West Africa actually started as competitors. KYA Energy applied for the same project tender and when we were both shortlisted we decided to contact KYA. Yao and Antje then had a long phone call and even though KYA won the tender we stayed in touch. When the opportunity arose to realise a dena RES project in Togo, we took the chance and officially partnered up with KYA Energy. Half a year later we officially signed our academy MOU, what a story!

East Africa
In East Africa we are active in Ethiopia. In the frame of the project GREEN Energy TVET by the German NGO ADRA we work on a solar curriculum for TVET colleges and are training Ethiopian TVET teachers on solar energy. Our partner for this project is the Solar Energy Foundation Ethiopia. We enjoyed the collabortation and together decided to set up GREEN Solar Academy Ethiopia together and will start offering regular trainings in Ethiopia soon.
Europe
Our German partner organisation, the German Solar Energy Society DGS, Regional Section of Thuringia is running a training centre in Germany under the name DGS SolarSchule Thüringen.
