OUR GRADUATES

Christian August
Pupkewitz-Megatech / 2022 Alumni, SuperSolarSchool

Christian August

I am a qualified electrician holding a Trade Certificate in Electrical General, currently working as a renewable sales consultant. I already had 2 years’ experience in the physical installation of solar. Now, I've learned how to size the systems myself, and more about the types of systems on offer, protection devices, and the monitoring options available. I would like to advise young people, electricians and solar technicians to take part in this training to learn about solar in depth.

Ambrosio Lusuekikio
Telecom Engineer & IT Project manager / 2022 Alumni, SuperSolarSchool

Ambrosio Lusuekikio

Prior to attending SuperSolarSchool, I had a little knowledge of solar through reading. I co-ordinate and consult on community projects, so I needed to be 100% sure I was dispensing the correct, safe, effective solar advice. I would recommend this training to technicians, solar installers and electricians so that they can get more knowledge and skills on how to maintain solar.

Weber Stenberg

I am currently a Project Manager with a background of working as a refrigerator technician and electrician. This course taught me how to do system design, what to consider when doing maintenance, and how to engage potential clients. Next, I will be going for my PV GreenCard. I will be recommending this same training for my team who are busy assisting me with the installations.

Theophelus Halukolo

My electrical background allowed me to set up my own company. I came to the training to also learn how to do battery and inverter sizing, which I did. I also learned the importance of site visits and doing a full load profile analysis. I would highly recommend this training!

Elario Muller

I have a background in advertising and marketing, and my current job is Business Development Manager at Pupkewitz. Thanks to this training, I will be able to generate more proposals, as I have a far better understating of how to calculate system size. I will obviously recommend this training to other technicians or solar installers.

Berthold Malyata

I am a Technical Advisor with a background in farming (agriculture has actually been my hobby since I was young). I had no pre-knowledge of solar before this training, and I have learned a lot about how solar PV works. I’m going to continue to get more knowledge and skills in solar. I would recommend this training to anyone who would be interested.

Ivan Louw
24 Hour Electrical / 2022 Alumni, SuperSolarSchool

Ivan Louw

I am salesman and HR practitioner with a basic knowledge of electricity. I had no pre-knowledge of solar. Now that my training is done, my goal is to become a certified solar technician and start my own installation company.

Godfryd Kakumo
Pupkewitz-Megatech / 2022 Alumni, SuperSolarSchool

Godfryd Kakumo

I am a Renewable Energy Consultant with 6 years’ experience in solar system installation. This training taught me how to do design in depth and how to balance the system with calculations and the usage of designing software. I would recommend this training to solar installers and consultants.

Which courses can I choose?

Right now, in Namibia, we are offering one of our best entry level courses: The SuperSolarSchool. This is a five-day course in which you get all the basics you need to know about PV solar, while also equipping you for practical application and installation. If you are starting out in the PV solar industry or just need a refresher then this course is for you.

If you want to focus on the practical side only, the PV Mounter course would be the right choice. It’s two days of almost only practical installation, ideal if you did another training and want practical experience or for installation staff which only need to know the basics and how to behave on the roof.

After you have completed the entry level course you may also be interested in our two advanced level courses. These courses are focuses on specific topics and allow for a more in-depth learning experience. The PV*SOL Design school is a course that teaches you how to use the PV*SOL planning software, this is a one-day course. The second course is called Solar Power Designer for Commercial Systems. This three-day course is focused on larger PV systems and the detailed planning and design thereof.

Is the SuperSolarSchool for anyone?

The answer is YES! If you have an interest in the PV solar industry and a desire to learn, this course is definitely for you. There is no prerequisite to have a technical or engineering background. While PV solar is a technology and the course itself is technical this does not restrict non-technical backgrounded people from joining. We pride ourselves on designing courses that are accessible and exciting to engage in. Nevertheless, because of the nature of the topic, you should have decent maths skills, especially algebra, because part of the course are calculation exercises where we calculate the size of PV systems.

Whether you want to become a technical expert or just understand the overall picture this course will provide you avenues for both. The SuperSolarSchool will allow you to equip yourself to become a PV expert able to perform installations or it can allow you to become a project manager, building owner or financial provider with PV solar experience and understanding. To do this we allow the courses participant to set a personal focus and either just grasp the gist of the complicated topics or to go into more technical detail.

The course does require technical application and interaction with calculations and hands-on exercises. But these lessons are created to be accessible to any level of understanding of PV solar energy and provide the option to go into more detail. There is a lot to learn in five days and you will definitely leave this course with a brain full of PV solar knowledge.

Get started with the SuperSolarSchool

With Namibia’s growing solar industry and the countries need to move to renewable energy sources for power, now is the best time to become educated on the solar industry and installation of PV solar power. The five-day course is broken up into sections to help cover all the required content.

The first two days are dedicated to understating topics like: how solar technology works, differentiating system types and identifying and learning about different components. The third day is used a for a practical exercise in which you build your own solar system. In the last two days the process is stepped up a notch as you begin learning more complex calculations and exercises on topics like: planning and sizing solar systems, project management and understanding the law around PV solar power.

While this might sound like a though course, if you apply yourself and come ready to learn we promise that you won’t regret it.

Are there courses for people with prior PV knowledge?

Of course, there are! While our more advanced courses are great for understanding more complex PV systems and further educating you on the use of PV*SOL planning software, we do recommend our SuperSolarSchool as well. You may be confused as to why we would recommend an entry level course to professionals, well, it is because we have designed the course to be multi-layered.

The SuperSolarSchool course is devised to allow a more advanced student to engage with each exercise and calculation in a more in-depth manner. While the instructor may be there to give step-by-step instructions to the entry level students, for the advanced they are more of a guide, pointing you in the right direction. We also provide the opportunity for the advanced students to contribute to the learning process through discussions, which is the best way to prove to yourself you understand any topic.

We are confident that you will be able to learn from the SuperSolarSchool even if you have prior experience with solar installations. Even after 10 years and 2000 participants, none have left this course without learning something new. If, however, you have reached the limit of the SuperSolarSchool, we do recommend our professional courses like the Solar Power Designer for Commercial Systems.

Curious about which choice is best for you? Give us a call and we can help assess your prior knowledge and assist in selecting the best course for you.
