Over the past year we have seen amazing growth in the GREEN Solar Academy in Cape Town. Recently we have seen such a demand for our SuperSolarSchool course that we have had to schedule an extra course for 17-21 May.

To accommodate the increasing number of solar enthusiasts we have also improved on our training equipment. From now on, the participants can practice installations on two roofs. Besides the existing corrugated roof, we added a second mock roof, this time a tiled roof.

The SuperSolarSchool in general is a very hands-on course. Besides electrotechnical basics and functionality of PV systems, planning and project management, participants also learn how to correctly size the system according to the client’s requirements. A full day is spent outside on the roof and with the practical installation.

With the new tile roof, the participants can experience an exciting new challenge. Even though it might be not the most common roof type in South Africa, it is definitely one of the most challenging for PV installers. In the SuperSolarSchool and the PV Mounter course, all participants get the chance to practice the installation and precise alignment of the modules on tiled and corrugated roofs.

Along with the extra roof we have also made improvements to the solar system itself.   We now have eight brand new Jinko Mono Perc half-cell modules available and a new SMA Sunny Boy solar inverter. All the improvements we are making to our Cape Town Academy are to create a more complete learning experience for our participants and equip them for their future in the solar industry. With the variety of components on site, the participants can experience close to real life conditions and we can make sure everyone can actively engage in the installation.
