GREEN Solar Certifications

GREEN offers two professional certifications that independently assess the skills required of today’s solar professionals.
Successful candidates receive a certificate jointly issued by GREEN Solar Academy and the German Solar Energy Society (DGS e.V.), recognising their competence in either solar installation or commercial and industrial PV system design.
Certification exams are available on demand, allowing you to write when you’re ready.
Which certification is right for you?
GREEN Certified PV Mounter
Who can take this exam?
This certification is designed for people who have completed the Principles of PV Systems online course or Solar 101, followed by the 2-day PV Mounter course. The exam confirms your knowledge of safe and professional PV installation, including:
- PV module handling and installation
- Roof mounting systems
- Module layout and orientation
- DC cabling and Balance of System components
- Basic system schematics
- Material calculations
- Installation best practice
GREEN Certified C&I PV Designer
Who can take this exam?
This certification is open to participants who have completed the 3-day Commercial PV Design course. The exam assesses your ability to design commercial and industrial PV systems, including:
- System sizing and energy analysis
- String sizing and inverter selection
- Equipment selection
- Roof layouts and module placement
- Shading analysis
- Single-line diagrams
- Performance calculations
- Design standards and best practice
How the exams work
GREEN certification exams are taken online, participants don’t have to be present at the academy. The exams are open book: all course handouts, books and the internet can be used, as we want to simulate real-life conditions for the exam – and wouldn’t you consult books and colleagues when working on a tricky problem?
Once registered, you will receive an email containing the details needed to access your exam on the GREEN portal.
The cost to write each exam is R750 excluding VAT, which includes certificate on a successful pass.
