Made in Germany, our international education partner
The German Solar Energy Society DGS
GREEN Solar Academy follows the values and quality standards of the DGS, Germany’s most reputable solar grassroots association
The German Solar Energy Society DGS, the regional section of Thuringia, is not only a founding partner of GREEN Solar Academy but also still the most important international partner for solar education.
GREEN’s SuperSolarSchool is based on the foundational courses offered in the widely successful SolarSchool format of DGS, which stands for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sonnenenergie e.V. (German Society for Solar Energy). And GREEN Solar Academy founders Antje Klauss-Vorreiter and Vivian Bluemel, are both members of the regional and national DGS association.
DGS Germany’s most reputable solar grassroots association
The DGS was founded in 1975 and is one of the oldest consumer protection associations in the field of renewable energies in Germany. The words “solar energy” in the name stand not only for photovoltaics, but for all renewable energies, since the sun is the origin of (almost) all of them.
The mission of the DGS is to drive the adoption and advancement of renewable energy technologies, foster education and knowledge dissemination, and actively contribute to sustainable energy practices both nationally and globally, collaborating with organizations and institutions to support sustainable development and foster international cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
DGS has a long history of solar training
DGS SolarSchools have been offering solar (technical) consultant courses in Germany since 1996. In Thuringia, the society specialises in photovoltaics and offers courses on off-grid PV for NGOs and organisations that primarily want to realise projects abroad and grid-tied PV for German professionals. As is the case with the trainers from GREEN Solar Academies in Africa, all DGS course instructors have many years’ practical experience in Germany and the courses are known for their high quality and relevance of content taught. The full course range of DGS that is offered across Germany can be found here; the website and courses are only available in German language.
Keeping up with German quality standard
To this day, GREEN Solar Academy follows the values and quality standards of the DGS. We are committed to disseminating knowledge in the field of photovoltaics in order to support the sustainable growth of the industry and photovoltaics as a whole.
We benefit from international relationships and exchanges with experts from various countries who have insights into the development of the market in both Europe and Africa and can therefor always adapt our training material to the latest developments and industry progress.
Ongoing relationship and joint projects
DGS together with GREEN Solar Academy has been involved in projects all over Africa providing services that include:
- In-house and customised photovoltaic training courses
- Solar training consultancy (training programme development, training of trainers, curriculum, and Teacher Training and Learning Materials development)
- Project management
