South Africa, Cape Town
The Salesian Life Choices are part of the Salesian of Don Bosco familie which is active all over the world to promote disadvantaged and marginalised young people. Since 2005, Life Choices provides training and services in the field of Family Stability, Health, Education, Leadership Skills and Employment. 2019 Life Choices joined the GREEN Solar Academy network with the clear objective to not only become the academy partner in Cape Town, but also to build up a solar training programme for the youth toegther with the GREEN team.
The GREEN Academy Cape Town is headed by Matt Fisher who also manages the live choices Incubator “New Ventures Studio”.
South Africa, Johannesburg
Resolution Circle (Pty) Ltd is a training hub that is 100% owned by the University of Johannesburg.
Resolution Circle provides experiential learning opportunities to undergraduate electrical and mechanical engineering students, practical in-service project training, and professional technical trainings. Since 2014 we have been working together and Resolution circle. They first managed the maxx and now the GREEN Solar Academy in Johannesburg.
The GREEN Academy Johannesburg is headed by Dennis du Plooy who is the Head of the training deparment at Resolution Circle.
South Africa, Port Elizabeth
Genergy has been offering the SAPVIA 5-day course as part of the PV GreenCard training since 2017. After Astrid Forbes, and Antje Klauss-Vorreiter, Director of GREEN Solar Academy, got in touch through their joint work in the SAPVIA PV GreenCard Skills Development Committee, they decided to join forces.
With the partnership, the training offered in the Eastern Cape can be expanded to include advanced and basic level courses in addition to the 5-day course. Following GREEN’s unique approach and quality assurance system, the training sessions in Port Elizabeth are based on the same training materials and guidelines as at the other GREEN Academy locations.
The Academy in Port Elizabeth will be headed by Astrid Forbes who is the Operations Director at Genergy.
Young Africa Namibia is an NGO that trains youth as part of an employment programme. Part of their training is a technical education, e.g. in IT, green building, welding or solar installations, as well as life and business skills to promote entrepreneurship.
Since 2017, Young Africa runs our Academy in Namibia and offers training at two different locations: Okahandja and Otjiwarongo. Since 2019, Olivia Namkomba is the director of the Namibian GREEN Solar Academy.
Sunergy Zimbabwe is a Zimbabwean solar company. They have two main fields of activity, hardware supply especially for off-grid applications and energy consultancy with expert advice and energy audits. They specialise in off-grid solar system and have also a track record of off-grid PV installations.
In 2017, we offered the first trainings together -still under the name of maxx-solar academy. The head of the GREEN Solar Academy Zimbabwe is Dave Mathews, one of the directors of Sunergy.
Gomes Rocha Engenharia, Lda. (short GRE) was founded in 2015 by two young and ambitious engineers, Pedro Gomes and Braulio Rocha. They focus on project management and engineering of renewable energy projects, especially solar photovoltaic with the goal to sustainably improve the situation of the energy market in Angola.
To contribute to the energy transition even more, they decided to also offer trainings and became an Academy partner in 2019. Now they offer a range of off-grid courses and are both directors of the GREEN Solar Academy Angola.
