The Renewable Energy Workshop Assistant course is designed to prepare learners for entry-level roles in the RE sector.

This is done by equipping them with the practical skills, technical knowledge, and safety awareness needed to function effectively in workshop and installation environments. The course develops competence in supporting solar PV installations, understanding workplace safety and procedures, and using tools and electrical equipment correctly.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to contribute meaningfully to renewable energy projects while promoting safe and environmentally responsible practices.

Who is this course for?

Individuals and groups seeking QCTO-accredited training in the solar industry, including:

  • TVET students and high school students with NQF Level 1 (Grade 9) or higher
  • People considering a career change and looking to enter the green economy with practical, job-relevant skills

On completion of this training, participants will be proficient in using tools and equipment found in solar workshops and will be able to assist qualified installers with PV module mounting and basic wiring tasks. They will understand how to apply safety protocols and identify potential hazards on renewable energy sites, ensuring safe and efficient operations. The course also covers evacuation procedures, lockout techniques, and fire control, along with foundational knowledge of electricity, solar systems, and their components.
